    Sunrise Medical Recalls Quickie Shark Bikes Due to Footrest Failure
    The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with
    the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
    It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
    Name of Product: Quickie Shark Bikes
    Units: About 20
    Manufacturer: Sunrise Medical (US) LLC, of Fresno, Calif.
    Hazard: The custom footrests can break, posing a risk of injury to the rider.
    Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
    Description: This recall involves Quickie Shark bikes with custom footrests that are designed
    for use by disabled persons. Model numbers included in the recall are SB472900001 and
    SB471900001. Model and serial numbers are printed on the right side of the bike frame. Serial
    numbers included in the recall are: KF138342, KF157355, KF182230, KF214063, KF214095,
    KF228670, KF230678, KF268500, KF271632, KF341126, KF344298 KF370981 KF368694,
    and KF240127.
    Sold by: Sunrise Medical authorized dealers nationwide from March 2007 through October 2009
    for about $4,300.
    Manufactured in: Germany
    Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the bikes and contact Sunrise Medical or
    their Sunrise Medical dealer for instructions on how to obtain replacement footrests.

    Thaanks, mine falls into that time period. I will have to match model and serial numbers. You would think that Sunrise would contact the owners. Sigh!

    I've had my leg pop out of the foot stirrups on my handcycle at speed. Pretty unsettling watching your leg rubber band itself under your seat at 30mph.

    I really could've gone without that visualization. How much damage?

    Other than a really dusty shoe full of gravel, zero. Although I can't feel my legs so until the cure comes around I may never know if it blew out a knee....
