    Desperately seeking:

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any support groups, recreation anything that's going on in or around Boston. I need some sort of diversion I feel myself slipping away. All of my able bodied friends just don't get it. I live alone, and I am independent to a fault. I don't have any family in the area so I think it would be really helpful find some people similar to myself.

Do not know how far you are from Brockton, but at the VA Hospital there there are a few wheelchair basketball teams. There is also a wheelchair softball team as well. You do not need to be a veteran to be a part of the teams either. Let me know if that interests you and I can get you some contact names.

After I got injured, I enrolled (at age 47) at Greenfield Community College here in Western Mass. I had so much fun that 17 years later, I am still in college, working on a second Masters degree. I think that North Shore has a campus in Lynn, and they are really supportive of older students with plenty of life experience.
