Ok, we are on the 2nd bottle now. I am finding that either he tolerates it well, 60 cc no problem or he gets so twitchy that he can't tolerate any. Its a yes/no switch flip kind of thing. But its about 80% of the time he can tolerate it, so that's been great. I am fiddling with technique on the times he can't hold it in - I instill it gradually now - push in about 10-15 at a time, apart by about 2-3 mins. Anyway, just wanted to update!

I'm the same way. Most of the time I'm fine with 60 ccs in the morning, but sometimes--today being one of those--in very short order I start the tingling and sweating, followed by the urinating through the urethra, which defeats the purpose and "wastes" the V.

Make sure it is comfortably warm when you instill it. Cold can trigger reaction.

Thank you sci455. I have been told by a health care professional that if it is too cold it will trigger spasms.

ZA--did you get the sp changed OK?

I have a sick kid at home today, so I decided to change it tomorrow when he's back at school (hopefully). If I run into trouble and have to haul Chad off to the uro, I didn't want to drag along a sick 10 year old boy.

YAY! Changed the SP catheter with zero problems, went in easily and quickly, just like it was before pseudomonas took up living in his bladder. This makes me hopeful that the VF is working ..... I'll take a sample in next week, we'll see whats going on then. He has had VF in for 30 mins, no problems last night and this morning too.

    Microcyn?

    Where do you buy microcyn?

I believe Microcyn 500ml requires a prescription from your doctor. Your local pharmacies may order it for you or you can buy it on line from internet prescription fulfillment websites once you obtain the prescription.

If you want to use the same formulations and not go the prescription route purchase either Puracyn or Vetericyn (original or VF formula). You can search the internet or this website for outlets. There is shopping information regarding Vetercyn in the following thread that appeared over the weekend (6/4-5/2011):

Here is a website for Puracyn. It contains a store locator (or you can search the internet for web shopping sites):
    http://www.puracyn.com/

    All the best,
    GJ

I've had very good luck with getting Vetericyn from these folks: http://www.medi-vet.com/
