    Webcam

I know NOTHING about this but wanted to set it up where my 3 daughters & I (kids, etc.) could see & hear each other over the computer.
Not a still picture. In moving live fashion.

What do each of us need to have set up to do this? A webcam? ???

Thanks, you'll have to spell it out. Newbee

Just plug in the USB cable from the WebCam into your computer. In some cases you may have to install the software that came with the camera. About three years ago, I purchased a WebCam from Best Buy or Circuit City. Make sure it comes with a built-in microphone.

Thanks PN. All I need is a webcam? No Skype?
    Any webcame?
Webcame does video & sound as long as you get one with a microphone?
Are the cheaper ones okay? How do you now the quality?
Like is there a certain number it should be?

    Thank you!

Yes, you will need Skype. I also use a USB headset but I am trying to keep things simple. If you have any other questions don't hesitate.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the link. Skype is a free download! Good!

Do you have to have a headseat? Anything else?
What do you look for in quality?

ALSO Do you have to know what kind of PC it's going on?

There is a Skype-like software utility that comes already in the box with some Logitech webcams. The Skype-like service is a relatively new offering from Logitech and it is; in some respects, better than Skype. Like Skype, the related Logitech service is also free. The Logitech service can be used with many different webcam models.

    Regarding:
Do you have to have a headseat?
No, it is not required with webcams that have built-in microphones.

    Regarding:
What do you look for in quality?
Presently, 720p would be a good minimum quality standard. The newest Logitech webcam is capable of 1080p (i.e., full HD).

This Logitech WebCam comes with a built-in microphone so that may eliminate the need for a headset. The WebCam will work with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

WC Sage may have found a better Logitech WebCam. You can't ignore 1440 Amazon customer reviews.

    Good luck.

one more thing, you might need speakers if you don't already have them.
