Christopher Reeve, best known for his role as "Superman", died of heart failure last week. Reeve had developed a serious infection from a pressure wound, a common complication for people living with paralysis. Pressure wounds and skin infections can occur when somebody is immobile for so long. But there is a wheelchair out there that's changing that.

Mitchell Swanson is a loving husband, a devoted dad, and a paraplegic. He was injured in 1990 when he was rear-ended by a semi truck on the highway. He broke his neck at a C5 level. He was, at first, labeled a quadraplegic.

But Mitchell wasn't going to take his paralysis lying down, he wasn't even going to settle for sitting up. Mitchell Swanson wanted to stand, and with the help of his new wheelchair, he would.

Mitchell says, "standing is so important for a person. When a person stands up, naturally, they have better circulation in their body and their bodily functions."

When you sit too long without moving or distributing your weight, the pressure can break down your skin and lead to infection.

I have seen plenty of pressure ulcers in those who use standing wheelchairs. This looks like a press release from a company that makes standing chairs. Cold of them to try to advertise their product on the back of CR!!!
