we got the Harmonized Sales Tax in British Columbia today, albeit three hours later. Ontarians get $1000 payoff per person. We didn't get that. Not a lot of harmony on the new items covered.

$1000 payoff per person? I don't think everyone gets it and not everyone gets that much? maybe I am wrong but I think only people who get GST rebates get the HST rebates. I hope I am wrong and I am going to get $1000 because I will need it to pay for the increase in my utility bills.

I think it was stupid to have the tax start on Canada Day. Way to dampen the celebration when the first 2 things I pay for on my way to Canada Day events have risen 8% in cost.

I don't have a problem with increasing taxes on "wants" but it ticks me off that this tax is going on a whole lot of "needs" and that's not going to help our economy.
