Thread: Drug Addiction

Neurontin is used for many off label things. As I understand was meant to be a anti seizure med and was found useful for neuro pain and even a mood stablizer.
I did not have any withdrawl in the past when decreased, but every person is different. For myself, it greatly relieves my Fibromyaliga pain that has been a problem for about 10 years. I feel it dulls my thinking and am trying to gradually see if a smaller does is enough.
The web is a useful tool, but there is a lot of conflicting info on meds.
My husband with SCI has severe neuro pain was on Neurontin several months with minimal results. When he switched to Lyrica it was a huge improvement and makes his pain bearable. (I know the thread is not about Lyrica)
It seems everyone has different reactions to meds which is frustrating and the reason you come across so many different opinions.

    thanks.

i guess i'll just keep doing what i'm doing. hopefully some mental changes form along the way because i definitely don't want to be married and/or raising kids being a drug addict.

again, thanks for all your comments.

I hope there's no long term effects, I took it for over 5 yrs. Then I went off of it. Good luck.

I think suboxone was intended to be a pain med when it was originally made in europe. U.S. doctors found it worked with addicts. Isn't it still an opiate?
