Quickie GTX: why did they discontinue the GTX?

I was looking into the GTX but it looks like it has been discontinued, that's pretty short lived...

Wow, if thats true I'm sorry to here this. I've had a GTX about 2.5 years and its the best chair I've ever owned. Guess I might have to look into a invacare Pro spin next time around unless quickie comes out with something comparable or better than the GTX.

wow, guess you are right, just checked sportaid and spinlife, no longer available, they must have replaced it with the q7 I guess. Only option on a lightweight folder now from quickie is either the revolution (I dont like those) or the 2hp which I used for years but feel its a dated design.

When I was fitted for my new wheelchair about 8 months ago, my PT told me that the GTX had some durability problems and was being replaced by the Quickie 2 Lite.

Did the PT mention the specific durabilty problem, can't beleive the engineers couldn't find a way to fix it, of course it might have been to expensive to fix...

Looks like the same chair, if it still for sale over there that would be interesting and even more interesting if it would be possible to get it...

I used a Quickie 2hp for many years. Its ok, the early ones I had before they made them with a thicker cross brace tube use to break there. I use to go through a couple cross braces a year until around 1997 I think it was. They did have quite a bit of frame flex and use to creak. The GTX I have is very tight and never creaks. The new quickie 2 lite does not look all that much different from the 2hp, so maybe next time I need a new chair I'll have to take a trip to london for a neon, either that or get a chair like the one in my Avatar from the movie Avatar
