    We need some help plz......

For well over a year now I've been trying to get a law enacted which would allow state and local authorities to ticket those parked in the access isle adjacent to a Van Accessible parking space. I recently learned that the Chairman of the Pa House Transportation Committee (Joe Markosek) essentially "Killed" the bill by never introducing it. After repeated attempts and emails from me requesting a reason from him as to why he did not wish to enforce the rights of the disabled he has no agreed to "bring it up" at the next meeting. What a hard-charger he is! LOL

This is where y'all come in- I need you to email the members of the Transportation Committee and inform them why enforcement is so important. Remind them that you are writing in support of Pa House Bill 519. It will completely die at the end of Nov if it doesn't get passed.

I don't have a pre-written letter- just pick a committee member and write about your personal experiences and let them know how it effects your freedom.

I don't know what Markosek's issue may be, but we can't let him stop this. (are you listening here other Pa residents???)

    Thanks!!!

wow, they can ticket for parking in the space, but not the marked space with vertical lines?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Good luck. Markosek sounds like a douche. Isn't it an obvious extension of the adjacent hc spots? Do they really need to reword it as "handicapped parking zone"?

Here in SC, at least locally, the police consider the striped area part of the parking space. It does not make sense to exclude them. The ADA specs require them and to comply with ADA they have to protect them. Have the folks in PA [my home state] lost their minds?

Because the ADA is a federal act, the state doesn't recognize the wording when it comes to legal enforcement. Common sense doesn't exist when it comes to prosecution. Violators are found not guilty when they show up with a scum-sucking attorney who splits hairs.

I'd like the members of the Transportation Committee to be aware of the Bill, so I emailed all of them last night. Its obvious where Markosek stands on the issue.

Great stuff Dave. Is there any way "feriners" can help without causing an issue?

Really hope this issue can be legislated by the state ASAP. This is important for those who live in Pennsylvania and those of us who travel there and spend our money there.

I wondered if that was illegal as many times I've thought of calling the police when blocked.

    I'll definately help you out.

Next time you're out & get blocked or see it,CALL THE NEWS & get coverage spreading.I really have thought about it but I don't want the chance of being in the news myself, wuss.

does it help for non-residents of PA to write? as you know, blocking the access aisle carries the same fine ($250) as parking illegally in hc here in WA state.
