You're on the right track, HP seems to have the best prices now hardware for hardware. I used to be a Dell fan...but HP is hundreds less for the same thing

I am sitting here writing on a HP Pavilion now and it is five years old, 60 gB harddisc. It is my daughters because mine is destroyed just now and that one was more expensive, about dobbel price, and it is only 1,5 years old. So at least they are keeping long and it has never been any trouble with this on.

If you want to save a few $$ maybe take a look at Acer laptops. I got this one for my wife on sale $399 with free shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115572 Newegg has specials on Acer laptops so check the prices every week.

i am well satisfied with the speed and the price... $600 from their website... goto fatwallent or slickdeals to find coupons.. now they are going for around $400 as the holidays approaching..
The thinkpads also have those spill resistant keyboards (it collects and diverts the liquid out of the bottom of the laptop through a drainhole).
