ALBANY, N.Y. (September 23, 2009) - Governor David A. Paterson has proclaimed today, September 23, as Stem Cell Awareness Day in New York State to recognize the scientific advances made in stem cell research. Tonight at 7 p.m., an award-winning documentary that follows one scientist's personal journey to help others through stem cell research will be presented by the New York State Department of Health (DOH) at the David Axelrod Institute, 120 New Scotland Ave., in Albany.

"New York State reinforced its historic position as a leader in biomedical research and provided an economic boost to the State in 2007 when it adopted an 11-year, $600 million initiative for stem cell research," said Governor David A. Good for Governor Paterson. He is a strong supporter of stem cell research and, as a legislator, he introduced the legislation to fund stem cell research in New York. Wise.

He may be a stem cell supporter. but as a man who admits to have benefitted from superior disbility support given in the suburban schools in which his parents moved him from the Harlem the early 1970s, he agreed to cut the New york state vocational Rehab agency (VECID) subsidy for college fees from whatever the college charges to only a paltry 300.00/yr. Now we have to pay an extra 3,000.00 a year. for my ASIA A c4 son. who attends the University of Illinois. what an hippocrite !!!

    Article Date: 12 Oct 2009 - 0:00 PDT

On a visit to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) Thursday afternoon, New York Governor David A. Paterson pledged his continuing support for stem cell research after receiving a briefing from a panel of Long Island scientists engaged in projects involving stem cells.

The Governor recalled that in January 2005, in his first press conference after being elected New York's lieutenant governor, he publicly committed himself to the advance of stem cell research in New York; it would be one of his top four priorities, he stated at that time. The others were the development of alternative energy sources, the problem of domestic violence, and the promotion of business enterprises run by women and members of minority groups. His commitment to stem cell research and the other priorities, he affirmed yesterday, have not changed in the 17 months since he became governor.
