5 min. wound pressure = 24 hrs healing tme

1 of my best friends just lost another toe to diabetes. They told him 5 min of pressure on a healing wound = 1 full day's time to re-heal!

Now I'm in bed w/ no computer, woe is me. Bunk-ass hard drives!

I thought this info would be useful to someone. It sure shocked me. I imagine i applies to us as well...

I had a pressure sore a while back and now I refuse to wear anything but sneakers everyday. A specific pair of New Balance sneakers. Sorry to hear about your friend.

    Hi Betheny,

I always keep a copy of Knoppix Live hanging around in the event that my hard drive bites the dust. You can run Linux directly from the CD player in your laptop without even having a hard drive in it at all.

    http://www.knoppix.com/

It's a pretty big download at around 680MBs but if you can get online (or get a friend) with another computer, download the Knoppix Live ISO file and burn it to a CD disk, you can run your new laptop from bed.

There's a larger DVD version but the CD version is fine.

    Good luck,

    Bob.

There is also all way to run Windows from the disk and install a bunch of different Windows utilities to do diagnostics. Check out the program nlite. I've been able to make several discs to run antivirus programs without having the operating system runningso the virus wouldn't be running. It's helped me do a lot of diagnostics and repair several computers.Good luck with it and just read the directions thoroughly.

Hi Betheny ... can you explain this to me. I am assuming this is negative but not sure what their message was. Just trying to figure it out so I don't end up in bed for this reason. Thanks ... William

Sorry to hear you are in bed and sorry to hear your friend lost a toe. I have always figured for everyday of being up with the least bit of a scratch/sore area it means 3 days in bed to recover. With hunting just around the corner means a good 18 hours a day being up, fortunatly have been lucky the past few years. Wishing you the same!

in my friend's case, they want his foot suspended w/ no pressure from blankets while he sleeps. in my case, time on my tailbone = far longer laying in my side. he said his wound care nurse is full of nuggets like that. pressure applied to any healing cut or wound really extends the healing time. we've all been told that but we know plenty of ppl that heal sores sitting up, too. she was just telling him he can't cheat.

since he's down to 8 toes, he'd better listen. since my tailbone is perma-sore, i'd better listen too.

thnx for advice, all. sent my pos back to bestbuy.

I think you are a good girl staying in bed even without a computer. I send you positive thoughts so your sore is healing quickly.

Have you got a new cushion yet?
