Texas State University will host the 2nd Annual Gridiron Heroes Football Coaching and Drill Clinic May 6 and 7.

The clinic benefits the Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Organization which was formed in 2003 to provide immediate as well as long term resources and support to individuals sustaining catastrophic spinal cord injuries during high school football-related events.

High school and collegiate coaches serving as clinicians for the event who have donated their time include: Lee Bridges (Taft High School), Steve Campbell (Calallen High School), Sonny Dykes (Texas Tech), Larry Hill (Smithson Valley High School), Blake Miller (Texas State), Mark Nelson (Baylor), Eric Russell (North Texas), Kevin Sumlin (Oklahoma), Scott Wachenheim (Rice) and Jason Washington (Texas State).

Clinicians will lecture in a classroom setting for approximately 45 minutes and then demonstrate drills on the playing field at Bobcat Stadium.

"This is not just a clinic where you take notes," said Texas State football coach David Bailiff, who is in his second year as the clinic's director. "You actually have an opportunity to see the drills run first-hand by some of the top high school and collegiate assistant coaches."

The clinic will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 6, with a dinner catered by Fuschak's Pit Bar-B-Q to follow. The clinic will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, and wrap up at 4 p.m.
