    So bad it's good....

Had a 'So bad it's good' movie night last night.

Some of my friends don't get this concept, highbrow art film obsessed mofos, but a handful of us embrace the childish comfort of it.

It usually involves an action flick, which I love, but only falls into the category of 'So bad it's good' if it has:

    • Cheesy, terrible dialogue
    • At least one truly awful acting performance
    • Major cliches

The pinnacle of this genre is 'Point Break' with Keanu Reeves but movies can often involve Nicolas Cage - we watched Vampire's Kiss, one of Cage's early films, last night.......OMFG!

    Have any examples?

Who's That Girl? with Madonna. It's over-the-top, the acting is off, but the scenes are so funny and outrageous, you laugh at it as though it were a long SNL skit. It's classic slapstick comedy with awesome 80's music.

Having said that, where Madonna truly shines, of course, is in the music she produced just for the film.

I am not sure I can say they are "good" at any level, but three of my top bad films are these (the second is one of the only films I ever walked out of):

McKenna's Gold (sad to say, bad Gregory Peck and laughable FX)

    Exit to Eden

The Island of Dr. Moreau (a nearly comatose Marlon Brando and a stoned Val Kilmer)

Rotten Tomatoes used to specialize in these, but now has just become a regular film review site. This site has more possibilities now: http://www.badmovies.org/ . This one also bears checking out: http://jabootu.net/

'Drag Me to Hell' (2009) When I saw it, many in the theater were laughing.

Every Quentin Tarantino movie ever made!

Don't insult my Nicholas Cage ... every woman wants a Nicholas Cage in her life! (The guys at work constantly rip on me about this ... I make them give up the remote in the lunch room if there's a Nick Cage movie on!)
    Make America Sane Again. lol

The Ambluance - Eric Roberts, James Earl Jones and a cameo by Stan Lee (Marvel Comics) playing himself!
