    Stairlift - recommendation?

We're planning to put in a stairlift for my 98 year-old father and his caregiver. We don't need anything fancy, just a basic lift. So we've been looking at the Ameriglide, possibly a reconditioned one (two actually, for two straight runs). Has anyone had experience, heard anything about these?

    Hi Richard,
I've got a pair of Ameriglides (my stairs have a landing in the middle) that I've been using for 2-1/2 years.
They're not fancy but do have a solid, dirt simple, design and were easy to install, a friend did it for me.
There have been some minor problems but they were easy to trouble shoot and fix.

The actual manufacturer is Summit, BTW.
I had to call them once for a question and they were quite helpful.

We did a lot of research and found one online for around $2,000. Not a fancy model, but a lot cheaper that the $4,500 to $7,000 we were quoted in town. They have a good video on how to install it yourself and provide great customer service.
