    Free therapy study for SCI patients

    Mental Practice and Recovery of Walking in Spinal Cord Injury

    Researchers at The University of Cincinnati and Drake Rehabilitation Center are looking for individuals who have experienced a loss or a compromise in walking from a spinal cord injury.

    We are conducting a research study that tests the effects of two types of therapies for walking after spinal cord injury.

    We are looking for people who:
    • Are between the ages of 18 and 95
    • Experienced a spinal cord injury at least 1 year ago but not longer than 10 years ago
    • Incomplete spinal cord injury ASIA Grade C or D
    • Are able to ambulate at least 10 meters with 1 person assistance and/or assistive device
    • Have no serious pain, or joint restriction in the legs;
    • Have no metal implants at or above the waist

    What to expect:
    • Upon arrival, you will be asked about your general medical history.
    • Your range of motion, pain, muscle stiffness, and muscular activity in your legs will then be assessed.
    • Individuals determined eligible for this study will receive 10 weeks of study-related therapy at no cost targeting their legs and walking.
    • In addition you will be asked to listen to a tape that encourages you to use your legs in different ways.

    Your confidentiality will be completely respected, and if the findings from the research study are published, you will not be identified by name. You may, at any time, discontinue your participation.

    Are you looking for SCI patients or people with SCI. A small but important point in your marketing of this study.
