Scotiabank celebrates 100th anniversary in British Columbia with a commitment of over $1 million to Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion
VANCOUVER, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today capped a celebration of its
100th anniversary in B.C. with the announcement that it will commit $1,050,000
to continue as presenting sponsor of Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion in 2005 -
2007. Scotiabank has been involved with the campaign since it was launched in
Canada's Man In Motion, Rick Hansen, joined Scotiabank Vice-Chairman Bob
Chisholm for the announcement at a special event to mark the 100th anniversary
of Scotiabank's first branch in B.C.
"Scotiabank has been committed to the people of British Columbia for 100
years - and one of the hundreds of Canadian charities we supported in 2004 was
the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Foundation," said Mr. Chisholm. "We are moved by
Rick Hansen's example and the success of his Foundation in raising awareness
and funds for the more than 40,000 Canadians living with spinal cord injury.
We're delighted to continue our partnership with Rick and very proud to do our
part to support this important cause."
