    Bladder Stone

My son is due to have a bladder stone removed (the doc will go in thru penis and pulverize it - this will be an outpatient procedure). If anyone has had this procedure done, was self cathing painful after the procedure? We just want to be prepared. Thanks!

No it won't be painful to cath, but he will be peeing some blood for a few days. But if he only has one(I had 6) maybe that won't happen either. The scope isn't much thicker than a catheter so no urethra trauma, and they blast the stone small enough to come out easily.

They might leave an indwelling catheter in for a couple of days so the stone fragments can pass.

Thank you for the quick response. McDuff, did you have the indwelling cath put in? Just trying to get my son prepared for this. Thanks!

No I did not. The Uro said that he had gotten them all cleaned out.
