    Unhappy Cathing frank blood

So I guess I used too much vinegar in the solution when I irrigated yesterday and now am cathing straight blood for about 6-8 hours.

I am heading to ER. No other symptoms but just don't want to take a chance.

Why are you irrigating with vinegar?

Much more likely is that you have a UTI with a hemorrhagic cystitis. Routine catheter irrigation significantly increases your risks for UTIs.

5 ml of vinegar to 450 ml of saline to break the mucous up.

How do you not irrigate if you have a bladder augmentation?

I irrigate just with saline. Did it clear up?

We recommend only normal saline for irrigating a neobladder or augmented bladder. Normal saline breaks up mucous pretty well. Never use plain water. We do not recommend vinegar, and don't recommend routine irrigation of an indwelling catheter.
