Allan recovering after neck, spinal injury

The family of Susan K. Allan, Lind, has established an account in her name at U.S. Bank in Ritzville to accept donations for medical expenses after an accident at the Ritzville Little League field on April 14.
According to Allan’s daughter, Amie Allan, Susan was scheduled for transport to Life Care Center of Ritzville on April 22 after a stay at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Susan sustained a fractured neck and broken back at the T11 vertebrae when she lost her balance and fell backward from a chair, hitting her head on a curb.
She was transported to Spokane, where she was diagnosed as paralyzed from the waist down, according to Amie.
Susan was then flown to Harborview Medical Center, where a rod was surgically placed in her neck and back.
According to Amie, the spinal cord corrective surgery fixed some physical limitations, such as straightening 33 percent of her mother’s curvature of the back, restored feeling in her feet and the ability to touch the top of her head, caused by a crippling arthritic
