    Hotel Motel booking in advance

Something to think about when booking a room. Make sure that who ever you talk to knows that a SPI is in a different situation than handicap in general. The motel might have a grab bar in the bathroom but if it is not accessible it may not work for you. Specify wheelchair accessible rather than handicap. Happy traveling!

Yep good advice, for me it doesn't really apply because I can use both a reguar bathtub if I don't have a stool with me to put in the shower. But I know when I went to seattle I requested a handicap accessible one in hopes it would be on the first floor (which it was) but the only difference is it had a grab bar in the bathroom.

There are many differences. Furniture in the way, light switches far from the bed and of no use with quad hands, bed too close to bathroom door so the door don't open all the way even if it is up to code. Its usually just little stuff but enough to tighten your jaw.
