Anybody have a wheelchair lift they use in their homes to go from one floor to another? Or know of any vendors? Looks like I'm going to be needing one if I purchase the house I've been looking at. I googled, and get a lot of UK companies, but not many US companies.
Thanks for any help. I just need to go about 8 feet from first floor to the basement. I plan on adding a bedroom and garage/workshop off the zero entrance basement. I can get in the front door from the outside, and I can get in the basement door from the outside. I can't get from the first floor to the basement from the inside. The lot is huge, but sloped and uneven, with three huge trees I want to incorporate into the additions.
They call the lifts from what I can tell vertical lifts or through lifts, but I don't want to go through an opening in a ceiling from the floor below. I want to use a lift where the existing stairs to the basement are, but I don't want a stair-glide-chair type of lift. I want to remove the stairs, and I want a lift that takes me, and my chair, along for the ride. But everything I find seems like overkill from the pictures I find on the web. I was pondering modifying a van chair lift by extending the traverse length of the van lift. I'm open to any ideas or tips. Maybe I'm not using the correct Google search keywords.
