I think anything that causes your spinal cord to malfunction is traumatic! So I must conclude that those unlucky bastards like me who suffered spinal infarction, venous thrombosis, ischemia, transverse myletis, etc all have scar tissue blocking any regeneration. So, no we are not special, and cns tissue destroyed by hypoxia, venous congestion, bleed, etc, most likely causes more widespread damage than a traumatic sci.
