Area Jeweler Continues Tradition This Year With Presenting Toys to UPMC's The Children's Institute

PITTSBURGH, Dec 17, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Pittsburgh area jeweler, Dale Citron of Citron Jewelers continues his yearly tradition with a donation of toys. This year, Sharon Fohl, Manager of the Citron Jeweler's Century III store will be presenting over 100 toys to UPMC's The Children's Institute on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:00 a.m.

The toys will be delivered by Ms. Fohl on behalf of Mr. Citron and presented to Sonya Shumway, Director of Development and Jeff Bisdee, Director of Recreational Therapy in the lobby of The Children's Institute located at 6301 Northumberland Street in Squirrel Hill.

Dale Citron, who owns the Citron Jewelers stores at South Hills Village, Century III Mall and Shenango Valley Mall, has contributed to the needs of children over the holidays by donating toys to a different organization over the past seven years. This year he has chosen to put the "sparkle in the eyes" of children at The Children's Institute. "Our company enjoys helping children during the holidays and it pleases us to share our success and help put a smile on children's faces," stated Mr. Citron.

In 1981, formerly the Home for Crippled Children became The Rehabilitation Institute of Pittsburgh. Today, The Children's Institute offers a multitude of services including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services to children who are challenged by a spinal cord injury, brain injury, cancer, cerebral palsy, burns, asthma, diabetes, learning disabilities and many other impairments. The institute also offers a school to children ages two to 21 who are challenged by cerebral palsy or a neurological impairment. Dale Citron is very excited about contributing toys this year to the "Amazing Kids."

Citron Jewelers was founded in 1996 by Dale Citron. The first retail store, located in Century III Mall and the second store was opened at South Hills Village in September of 1998. And, in 2000 a third store was opened at the Shenango Valley Mall in Hermitage, PA. Citron Jewelers is an up-scale jeweler, featuring diamonds, with a selection of diamonds of all qualities, specializing in diamonds 1 carat and larger. Citron, a native of Western Pennsylvania, started his company after leaving Sterling, Inc., where he was Corporate Senior Vice President.
