Hi: I am assisting a high school senior who devised this survey. Her goal is to go into biomedical engineering.

If you have used FES, would you please consider completing this survey?

In the past 5 years have you used a functional electrical stimulation (FES) device that uses electrical impulses to trigger paralyzed muscles to contract, thereby restoring a function such as standing, reaching, breathing or urinating?

If so, please complete the following survey.

It is being administered by a Maryland high school senior as part of their International Baccalaureate (IB) degree program. The student, Regina Zolbrod, will be pursuing a biomedical engineering degree this fall. Your participation will encourage her and other young people to study areas of engineering which could ultimately lead to breakthroughs in product development for spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, foot drop, traumatic brain injury, scoliosis and other diseases and injuries that FES devices address. It should only take about 15 minutes to complete.

Your individual responses will be kept strictly confidential but you are welcome to receive the total, tabulated results from the survey.

If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail Ms. Zolbrod at reginazolbrod@yahoo.com.

Take the survey.
