    CAREGIVER STUDY

    CAREGIVER STUDY

    December 14, 2003

The Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregivers Health, or REACH, study at the University of Miami still has a few openings for caregivers who care for an elderly relative who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or similar dementia. The patient must live with the caregiver and not be bed-bound, blind or deaf. The family must live in Broward or Miami-Dade counties and plan to stay in the area for at least the first six months of next year. Qualified applicants will help test the effectiveness of support services and counseling.
The university also will begin offering a new program for caregivers of spinal cord injury patients next month.

For more information on either program, call the university's Center on Aging at 305-355-9200.

    Re: CAREGIVER STUDY

    Hello,

In addition to the Miami site for the SCI study you mentioned below,
there is also a site in Pittsburgh, PA that's providing the same
services to caregivers and care recipients of SCI. We're covering the
greater Pittsburgh area as well as northern W.Va. and southeastern Ohio.

I'm the project manager at the Pittsburgh site, where we're coordinating
the study as well as providing intervention. It would be great if you
wanted to mention we'll begin to enroll SCI survivors and caregivers for
this study in January 2004, along with the Miami site.

Please feel free to contact me for more information. Thanks very much.

    Amy
