Thread: Margarine Myth???

Butter, olive oil and canola oil for me.

I've read that you can mix softened butter and olive oil together for a healthier spread and then chill it -- don't remember the proportions though.

No margarine here for a long time.
I've studied & debated for quite awhile on what to use.
    I was using butter.
    Now I'm using Smart Balance.
I can't remember why I chose Smart Balance over Butter.
I read a bunch online & something I read made me chose it.
I still use extra virgin olive oil, which has Omega's in it.

    Olive oil is very good.

We use Smart Balance, too, switching to it from margarine a long time ago. The reason is because it's non-hydrogenated, but other than that I'm not sure it's necessarily any better than margarine.

We also use butter and olive oil. I like to mix together a little butter and a little olive oil for sautéeing.

Oil, butter, Margarine is all good as long as you don't over eat it, can't remember last time I had any of those on toast, I prefer ham and cheese in between two toasted slices of bread(and again any bread will do).
