I'm trying to reply to 47+years... I want to thank you for your comments and 50 years of marriage is quite an achievement for anyone, but especially so when quadriplegia is involved. And, if my math and interpretation of your profile info is correct, then you've been a C5-6 for all but the first two years of marriage, correct? Highly impressive -- congratulations to you too!

Your thread is very interesting. By coincidence my husband and I had a discussion this week about whether as a Christian it would be okay to have a wedding in the church before God without having the "legal rights" the government gives a married couple. He pointed out that in some areas of the world the contract before God is the only marriage available. It is so ingrained in me that you have to make it "legal" that it was a new thought to me.

I appreciate your openness about your faith and am grateful that no one seems to be hostile. I know there are a lot of hurting people who do not react well to expressions of faith. I went into flash chat once and received some really nasty comments about my relationship with my husband. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary this year!!

Again, congratulations.
