I am totally new to this - my 33 year old son suffereed a diving accident on July 3, 2009 and broke his neck at C3 - he can shrug his shoulders and has recently been implanted with a diaphram pacing system and is off the ventilator - his trach was downsized to a 4 with no cuff; however he still has some minor secretions so he is keeping the trach for now. He was keeping his spiritis up but has recently become extremely depressed and doesn't even want his wife of 2 years to come see him. He is still in the hospital because the nursing home we wanted won't take him and the hospital setting is becoming extremely depressing after 4 1/2 months. He is seeing people around him getting recovery and it just adds to the current depression -we qare in the Cleveland area so I would really like to hear from some people around here with any words of encouragement I can give him.
