Hey arndog..I'm so glade I found this post..I'm T4-incomplete since late '05...I saw a post where u mentioned kyphosis surgery. even though I can't walk.....wait.....wait.........yet. When I was fused, the rods were put in with a "forward lean"...can u tell me more about your surgery..recovery time in hospital?..Dr's follow up appt after surgery..etc. I'm thinking of having mine corrected....Is there a huge risk in doing this surgery?......What all is involved?? Thanks!

I understand the concern re butt issues - I have no sensation between legs as well as no pelvic floor innervation, but do have some further out (starting to feel my sit bones when I sit on hard chairs as I loose some weight/fat off the butt). However if you look at some of the paracyclists out there - many have no sensation - no gluts (Greg Ball is an Aussie with TM as a baby - AFO's and can barely walk but still rides and competes in LC4 division, another one that comes to mind is a german, Michael Teuber - check him out on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coBGT9aRu84). Sometimes you just have to try it out. Perhaps short periods at first and keep an eye on the sit bones for any sign of pressure spots. I wouldn't go for seat covers though - they generally don't help at all, better off getting a very well fitting seat (for your shape) and very good quality bike shorts.

    Gday Arndog
Just thinking on your question regarding AFO and crank lengths etc whilst riding this morning. A suggestion would be to put your cleats right back under the arch of the foot. If I had problems with both legs I would definately do this. Because I have a 'good' leg that does most of the work, we decided to stick with normal cleat placement to get the maximum power out of my good leg.

I think riding a normal upright bike is probably easier to get power out of the bad leg too as I can just use body weight and rely on the quads. I can't seem to coordinate bending the leg and pulling it backwards at the same time so I mainly use hip flexor to unload that side on the upstroke.

Arndog.....This is seabeemom...but I'm not signed in. Where did you get those faux leopard Lycra crutch covers shown in the pic u posted recently in the thread about forearm crutches? THanks! If u could email me, it's margielu1982@gmail.com or margiehays@cox.net. Thanks!! There's a 10-year-old I'd love to buy the covers for, and maybe even some for myselfl.

    Thanks for your kind words.

That daily workout thread is great. I caught today's training. Good going on your exercise per usual. I was especially impressed with 0 minutes writing a term paper.

Off to read for a bit. Have a great evening.

Hey Jon, Just saw this note. My wound needs about a nickle size skin to grow in. So, I'm not exercising like I want. But, in the last 24 hours, I've experienced new return! (5.5yrs post!) I did a backup starting with chest on knees for the first time! So, I'm feeling very different. Don't know what's happenning, but I like it! Pat
