Hey Flying.. Im actually close to Salem but it would still be a long drive for you. I ride with another hand cycler who uses a Bionix because well he is in his 60's and has tore up shoulders from riding so many years. We have AB riders who go along also but our rides are more recreational and not fast I train alone and that's when I do speed and distance work. We have done the Row River Trail before and its a fun time.
I have a Marathon on June 16th and I have Football agility camp the following week for 3 days but after that im pretty open. I will say im a fair weather rider I raced in April on my old Force G in the rain and I hated it. ha ha. Well let me know when you might think you might be going and I will see about coming down I will stay over night because its a distance to drive after a 30 mile ride.
I saw where you stated you were getting KAFOs. Just to give you some encouragement I have the same injury as you and I was told I would never get out of the bed until I went to mayo clinic and got kafos. Kafos is the greatest tool us paras could have. It makes me feel more normal and I do not use a wheelchair at all anymore. I wake up at 7 and put my kafos on and I go to bed at 11 and then take them off. It is a tough road to get to this point but its worth it. If you ever have any questions please pm me. Tks Ron

Hi, your avatar caught my attention. Prior to my injury, aviation was my passion. Instrument, single and multi engine rated. I have no use of my legs, so anything that requires rudder input is out of the question.
Would be very interested to learn of your experience with aviation.
Hi, I'm East of Salem near Stayton. Been to Coos Bay many times. Nice. Take care. Ramey
well crack up is better than being on crack ha lol. Ohio is having elections so people are going nuts here and it's not summer anymore so it's colder; I'm working on a ph. d. and I have no feeling left in my brain otherwise I am fantastic.
That was a great video! It was a beautiful weekend to be up in the air, I'm sure. How old is your daughter? She did a good job putting the video together. Looks like it was warmer in Powers than was down here in North Bend. Today (Tuesday) sure is nice though... except now I'm back at work!
And it looks very close to the eastern part of Norway where I am living. I am living in Oslo but around the city it looks nearly like this. The soil is a little darker here, more brown like s... Thank you, that was so funny to see
Hi David, I returned from Oregon last week. It was so beautiful. I did a little floating in Bend. I saw the gorge and the waterfalls. I also went to the The Edgefield.. I did not have enough time as it was a family reunion. I hope to return and see the coast.
Great picture of your Rans!!!
I will be 4 years post this fall. I have always been a loner, so being inside my little cocoon is not sci induced. I hope that at some point your situation will change and allow you to do the things you want most. Thank you for taking the time to say hello.
Haha that's funny about the Gravitron, Went to the fair on Friday. We were there quite a while. It's pretty accessible once you get down the big hill @ the entryway. They've changed the livestock barns so they're easier to navigate. Chickens/rabbits building is still cramped and bumpy though. You need to go next year!
Sorry its been awhile! Are you going to the fair this week? I think the family and I will try to make it there on Friday.
And to answer your question about swimming at the North Bend pool... it's COLD! My kids go all the time, but I could never stand it! It would be nice to run into you one of these days. There are a few of us in chairs around here, maybe one of these days we can all get together. Have a wonderful day.
I am living in Oslo, but I have been visiting Svalbard, I think you call it Spitsbergen and that is the North Pole
I love the short summer nights and hate the long and dark winters. I am always surprised when I am in places when it is getting dark 7pm in the summer, here we are without sun about 3 hours and it is not real dark.
I am a T11 T12 and I can't walk anymore. I lost the possibility to walk about four years ago but has been in a chair around seven years but I am 41 years post so it is not so strange. The feet and under the knees are close to normal but the rest is not for walking.
My kids were at the pool last night! They have a lift, but I don't think I would be caught dead getting in the water... I love the picture of your family, it looks like you guys have a beautiful place. Have you been able to do home modifications?
Saw your new profile pic, thats a nice looking ultra-light Have you been up after your injury?
Hi, David, I am 18 years post injury, July 24, 9:10 am....where are you in Oregon. I'm going up there next month. Flying into Portland and driving up to Bend. I have never been up there, and I am pretty excited. One of my best friend's lives up there and her family is having a reunion. Lisa
I hope to hit the lottery and buy a rudderless Ercoupe someday.
David.... I did not know it was a single place. Of course it is your decision amd you know your capabilities but I would not fly that plane. You will probably be disappointed after flying a Kolb. The QS performance is going to be much less impressive. If you do choose to fly it... do iton a calm day!!!!
Not married... divorced... my 17 year old son lives with me every other week.
I guess to answer your question.... The fact that you are asking my opinion tells me you are questioning whether you should fly with your friend or not. That means the answer should probably be no. Alot of my decision of whether to go would be based on the level of your friends flying skills and the condition of the airplane and the level at which it is maintained. A two axis quicksilver would not be my first choice of airplanes to return to the air after having come close to dying once before. Personally I would not do it.
To answer the other part of your question... No I have not flown since my accident except on a commercial airliner. Mostly because the airfield where I was based was closed and sold. They built a new high school on the property and the group of flyers have all dispersed to other regional fields in the area. I have not kept in touch with most of them.
What kind of plane did you have your accident in and how many hours had you flown?
