I stay involved with the local theatre, plus I work 3/4 time as a case mgr. I know what you mean about not seeing the recovery you'd like to. I've designed some ab workouts for individuals. I coach them okay, as long as neither of us look at my quad gut!
Dysreflexia's the worst. Mine's better now, it's become a useful pain indicator, but for a while it was just painful.
On that cheery note- hope you have a great day!

Hello! Just looked at your website. How is the therapy going? Are you doing any teaching? I was reminded about how I taught some choreography for a musical this past winter... I told them my elbows were their feet and my knees were the floor... it will well and till I had to show them the arm movements, and they kept thinking I was referring to their feet! Anyway, having been an aerobics instructor in a previous life I can understand how tenaciously you want any recovery. (I'm a C-5)

I was also injured while hunting. We were hunting for hogs and the guy driving our jeep was a careless idiot so we ended up flipping over and I broke my neck C4/5 and my lovely life was over thanks to him, oh well! I still hunt so I'm lucky, I walk a bit too but not very fast and with a limp. Sept 20th will be 4 yrs for me so I'm still adjusting. I was in the hospital for6 months but was back to my same job 9 months after my accident, I think workin full-time now is hard as heck most days but I'm glad I do it because it helps block out the pain, I have pretty severe nerve pain. You?

  7. Hello to all my SC I family members. This is my first post, though I have read many. I think this site is a godsend. I have a question to send out. I recently had a syrinx/scar tissue decompression done on my spinal cord. It was progressive, and was causing an increase in my spasms and blood pressure volatility. It has not been quite two weeks since the surgery. Though my spasms are gone, my pain is still quite there, and I believe I still have swelling from the surgery. For this reason I have not gotten all of my previous functions back yet that I had before my surgery. There were not many, but I was improving. Please tell me your past experiences in this area. My hope was that the swelling is causing much of the non-return and that it will come back with time. My surgeon felt that my spinal cord seems so much more open now and should be getting better. By the way my injury level is C-4 C-5. Thank you and bless all of you. Kirk

Does anybody else get really cold after eating?

by Peders on 02-06-2018 at 11:41 AM
This seems to have gotten worse the last year or so. By the way I am a C for quad, nine years post injury. I don't really understand it, but especially after a lunch,, I get so cold! I usually have to put on an electric blanket and drink hot water to stop shivering. Quite annoying.
