noticed a couple of ike back and forth here, not sure how i got here but since i couldnt find easy info on on your injury levek, so cant be sure of your bike problems, and i know there are many as i had to do a lot of experineting, and dismount and monting the bike was one of my original problems.
i great fix if you can do it is a kick-bike, which is a full size bike frame with usually 700c front wheel and 16 inch or other small rear wheels. no pedals ans a small platform to put a foot on. a big boy razor. you get a great workout if you can do it, very similiar to running.i have about 3 recumbents ,and all i have used for the last two years is the kickbike, recumbents are good too, but stick to the low bottom bracket types like the gold rush The higher bottom bracket, such as the vrex is way too squirly, i have one. BikeE if bought cheap is a good bike too. i actually have a fold rush, so i can bring it on the train that i take into Manhattan. mike, injury = caudia equina

How did you make the transition from stationary to real bike? It sounds like we have similar injuries and return, I am afraid to try the bike. What style bike did you ride first, ie mt,road, rec,
    Thanks

Hey there, I saw one of your thread posts about biking. Are you riding an upright or a recumbant? I really miss the bike and want to get back on the trails with my upright. However, my injury has left me with questionable balance. I'm wondering how you got back on the bike safely. Happy trails to you!

Yes It was great. I sat outside, and enjoyed it! did my sudoku and listened to music, helped my boyfriend wash and wax his truck, and rolled my pants up and just sat in the sun! It was beautiful! Sunday was the nicest day of them all! what did you do?

Not yet - the frame arrived in Australia on Monday (a Merida 909 scultura evo frameset that I managed to get on a bit of sponsorship deal with the importers) and plan is to go up to Sydney (about 3 hour drive away) on Monday with my new wheels and handlebars etc to get it built up. Good to hear that the Di2 is going well for you. Hopefully it + a couple of kilo's off the bike will help me get a little faster - if not, its fun upgradeing anyway and there is always the 'bling' factor.

i have a bike that i get on that helps a little but i really move my legs with my arms. i just started therapy and they seem to be helping i can walk a little better with the crutches but only for short dis. what do you use to walk?
  13. Not that your son is ready to see this but maybe sometime it will be right. You said he liked snowboarding. I met a incomplete quadriplegic snowboarder her name is Jodie Thring and she is from Australia. You could google her name and you will find a short youtube movie about her. I am sorry I have no definitive answers on how to motivate your son, I am a father as well and I know how helpless you must feel. Just be there no matter what as my father was when I was injured. I truly wish the best for you and your son.

I agree with you. There is no such thing as good spinal cord injury. There is only bad and worse. Wise.
