  5. Hi, just saw your message. I'm not familiar with this thing! I guess this is where I respond to you. I'm almost in FL. Would like to meet others, but don't travel much. DO go to Atl. occas. to see grandchildren, however.

Hi vjls, Saw your post today about being able to wiggle your toes and move your foot. That is pretty exciting news because that means signals are getting down to your feet, past your injury. My son works out at Project Walk and I have met lots of folks who come in with those capabilites and really improve. Do you currently work out? Just wanted to encourage you. A man came in 10 years post in a power chair, has been there 3 years and now is using a walker. Thanks for listening and hope you have a great week.

I saw your post on having a colostomy. I am a c/7 quad, female, who has been fighting bowel problems for 15 years. I have been injured 17. I had an antegrade colonic enema proceedure done in 2001 that didn't help, I spend anywhere from 2-8 hours daily on bowel care. I have sensation and feel pressure and pain in my abdomen all the time I have spoken to a colon-rectal surgeon and he thinks my life would be much easier with a colostomy; my fear is that it will gross me out! As a quad with a body image problem anyway (big gut) I am vain. I know this is silly since we as SCI survivors have to deal with things we never dreamed of; I am sure this too will become second nature. Would you mind giving me a little information about your experiences. I am reaching out to another woman; because men are strange birds--and don't have the same emotional hang-ups that we have. Oh yeah, I am married and my husband has no problems with my decision either way. Thanka for your time

Perhaps returning to your Occupational therapist to evaluate you for some resting hand splints to be worn at night? I see many whose hands constantly cause probs. I would encourage you to see your OT, eval for appropriateness for splints.... hopefully get them fabricated, re-start a comprehensive finger range of motion program, and if appropriate check out e-stim or neuro-muscular electrical stim, and seek funding ( if appropriate for device). Good luck, Pam OTR/L
