  1. We purchased a used vehicle. Mine has a seat that turns outward as well as a suicide door on the drivers side which allows me to disassemble my wheelchair and place it behind the drivers seat. I get really wet when it rains but it gets me around.

The process for maintaining a license post injury is not well documented and caused a lot of extra work. I did not go through drivers ed post injury as my experience with different types of vehicles and operational controls put me ahead in that respect. The driving test up in Detroit was so much more involved than my original driving test back in 1979 that I felt like I was being overly scrutinized. Let me know how things are progressing with your quest to go mobile. Sorry it took so long to respond, was busy with a two week vacation!

John,.......I fully expect to hear from the AAA people this week on whether or not they are going to pick up the full cost of a van. I am getting one from Mobility Works. Dr. Nieschoff wrote for an Rx for one for me. Originally, I was going to pay for the van and, AAA was going to pay for the modifications. That got changed with the Rx. Trouble was, I had to wait until they got around to deciding on paying the full shot. It's been a month now. It will be worth it if they do. Will save me a few grand that I can use to take all my grand kids to Disney World next year. What has been your experience in the matter? I'd be curious to know.
  3. Hi Larry, we got pretty lucky with the rain! Had a very exciting weekend. Let me know if you want to talk about getting a set of wheels. I can let you know what my experience has been, good and bad.

Well John, if I can get over there I will stop and introduce myself. Would you be the one in the wheelchair? Ha! Ha! My problem at the moment is transportation. My wife is out of town and, I don't have my own set of wheels yet. I have been having to put up with commercial transportation since the accident (A van transport service). In any event, should my brother come by, I will make it a point to get over there. Hope that it dosen't rain on your parade. ...........Larry Stesiak(bigtop1)
  5. Hello bigtop1, nice to hear from you. I am very interested in SCINetUSA and it is the best idea I've heard in the three years since my injury. I'll be at the Trenton Roar on the River all weekend. If you get a chance come on down to Elizabeth Park and say hi. I'll be around the judges stand quite a bit. John Broge

I'm a post MVA in Sept of 08. What did you think of Dr. Youngs address. I'm surprized at the progress that is being made in SCI research. Dr. Nieschoff must have been impressed because he mentioned that he was going to volunter for some future studies at Rutgers. My email address is Nice to meet you. bigtop1
