I recently used Google maps on my blackberry in Hawaii. If you have mobile with a browser, you can download it from www.google.com/gmm
It is amazing. My blackberry curve 8320 does not have GPS. Despite that, Google Map2 not only allowed me to ascertain where I was within about 200 meters but also guided me to the destination that I wanted, showing a detailed map of the roads all the way.
Wow, how does it do this? The program apparently triangulates your location from the cell antennas that are close to you and calls up the correct map and displays your progress on that map. It is not as accurate as GPS but it is amazingly accurate. There are a bunch of web sites that are speculating about how it works.
Best of all, it is free.

oh for sure... I was just adding that the itouch has the same ability, even though it has no GPS or cell, with google maps.
Also, for you, I don't think the a higher pop density will give better resaults.. Cause aren't the towers still the same spacing?

What a great feature. I must ensure that my next cell phone is accommodative. Appreciate the info!
I use google maps, my phone uses both triangulations, quickgps, and a gps. Don't get jeolous Dr Young... http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/00020071.gif
I wonder what is the difference between maps 1 and maps 2.

"maps 1" didn't have the location finder built in.

Yes, I was quite surprised. It was able to figure out my location and put me on the correct street, within a block (±200 meters). I was in Hawaii at the time. It does it in New Jersey and New York. I am anxious to see if it will do it in Hong Kong and China.

I only get jealous when there's a woman involved. :) Seriously, did you buy the phone that you said you were going to get? If so, that is great.

It worked here, downloaded it and tried it on my N95. Great. One also can switch from map to satellite image.

great. Wise.It is, but by using your link on top here I had to go further to my specific country on a list and then download it on that menu item. Again, good tip. Road travelling routes like any GPS gadget can also be plotted (although it said not recommended for use in a car while driving, due to the size of the LCD on cell phones I guess) plus hotels etc. On my N95 there is a similar GPS map tool too, but this looks as good, maybe it is based upon the same maps, I haven’t really checked that yet.

The AT&T design looks pretty similar as the N95. The keyset on the N95 got good reviews although at first glance it looks not so good, but I have had several Nokias and this keyset is the best so far. I’m not a quad though, but as for quad friendly the keyset on the phone you got looks very handy. What are you’re experiences with the AT&T as for this so far? Pros & cons?

Image show N95 keyset in open position.
And i dont know why that head is so big.Well the big airheads are another story. -Heard that 50% of the Germans will quit using Nokia since Nokia is phasing out a plant in Germany with 2,300 workplaces and move that production to Romania. Good for Adi :D
To add. Sis has the E90 communicator:

The keyset is maybe Ok, but the phone looks a bit heavy I find. And the N95 has the same features, like I believe the AT&T you have also carries. To me it seams like the communicator phone is going backwards, to big and clumsy. Maybe it’s ok for some though.

touch screen, well, do one really use that?
camera, Ok, but like in 2.
gps, like above, while driving to the mall in Beaumont, who needs it?
tilt/slide -a plus but are keys ok?
guess the same on Nokias and most such phones, not a big issue. Hyped. It’s not a laptop.
is it possible to use that same flip commands wen not flipped/slided to activate the same commands on the keys directly, I guess so, but not as you would have wanted it, I understand. So, all in all, you regret buing a new cell phone? :)

LOL. "Noway" has more than one city. On my one occasion there, I stopped at the airport of Oslo to transfer planes and flew on to Bergen for a meeting. It was beautiful although many of the people had to use toothpicks to prop up their smile. Sorry, that is a joke. Norwegians are well known for their dourness. Hmm, could this be why six Norwegians have been charged in the theft of Munch's masterpiece, the scream (Source (http://msn-list.te.verweg.com/2006-March/004785.html))?

touch screen is very useful. makes everything easy for a quad.

Onslow:hello eric

eric:sure, in Noway there are only 2 directions, north and south.

Hey Mr. geography teacher - Aside you would have to follow the coast east/west into some of the largest fjords in the world, like Sognedfjorden, the second largest after Scoresby Sund on Greenland. Now, pick up you’re canoe and check it out. You would need a good canoe though; the total coastline is 83,281 km.
Wise: Hello DA.
DA: Hello Wise.
Wise: You’re not in Hammerfest yet?
DA: No
Wise: Where are you? What is taking you so long?
DA: I’m stuck in a fjord man. I’m giving up this way, think I will take a shortcut and hike over the Folgenfonna galcier instead, shouldn’t be a big problem now that Global Warming is melting it away anyway ;)
Wise: Oh I see :zombie: , good luck. Btw. who is Eric, another geography teacher friend of your's?
does Noway shape looks like a ....... lol.
does Noway shape looks like a ....... lol.Yes, It might look like something one could boot Texas smartass with :D . What does Texas and Beaumont look like? Like Letterman says it; Know Your Cuts of Meat lol
