is there something out there you can download to check how to spell a word? like a little dictionary you could click on , put your best atemt and it gives you the spelling. something that would be on the bottom of the screen , for quick access. thank you

nah , like a dictionary. like now if i want to spell a word i type it in yahoo as close as i can guess and yahoo comes up with the right way. yahoo for dummies lol.

There are many free on-line dictionaries that you could use to look up words, but most require you to look up the word by spelling it correctly. On my Mac I have a "widget" for one of these (Marrian-Wesbster) so it is always available.

If you are really desperate, you can Google the word and if close, it will usually find the right spelling for you.

Spell check is usually easier as it lists most possible alternatives to the misspelled word. If in doubt, write your message in Word or AppleWorks first, spell check it and then copy and paste to whatever website you are using. Of course on this site, we already have spell check built into the response window.

thanks everybody. i was looking for something that would be on the tool bar at the bottom. i click it , try to spell the word and it gives me the right spelling. sound easy enough. alot of the ones you guys and gals posted want to redo the tool bar at the top. i use yahoo to do that , but i on phone line and it takes awhile.

Why doesn't the spell check here work?

I use Clue.exe and my computer has a spell check in Norwegian but that doesn't help me much here.

Like word prediction?Not familiar with that, but it is what it does.. you usually recognize the word without having to see the definition.
