I recently purchased a Belkin wireless adapter for my laptop because I was having trouble connecting to my bro-in-laws internet connection (I live in an addition off their house), and the adapter he installed on my desktop was not getting a connection. So I installed it, and was able to pick up half the neighborhood. But even though my bro-in-laws network is listed under available networks, it won't allow me to connect. It is not secured either. Any help?

Back awhile, I bought a Belkin N router hoping for more distance. Never could get the damn thing working, even spent an hour with their "tech?" support, they told me it must be a bad one, get another one. I went back to my old Linksys.
If you haven't already, try removing any/all wireless networks listed in your wireless network auto/manual connects, I had to do that with one of my laptops to get it to finally connect up. It was getting confused or something.

Try reinstalling the drivers and software for the wireless card. There may have just been a glitch when it installed. Also, if you're using the software that came with the card, you may want to disable the automatic Windows wireless software.
