Wheew was I sick!

Yesterday was bad news! I got a UTI! I had not had one in seven or eight years and do not remember them being so bad. Luckily my partner had some Amoxicillin left from when she had recent bladder pain. That turned out to be a side effect of her Vytorin but her doctor had her take the Amoxicillin just in case it was a UTI. It really would have been the suck to trudge through the snow, pack up my kid, and drive to the doctor.

Worst of all I did it to myself. I remember a few nights ago I had to pee and the cath tip slipped out. I swabbed the tip with Povidone but the cath line itself must have stuck out which I did not swab. I should have thrown it away. The line must have protruded and then got drug down my leg onto the sheets.

Just one day was real bad, it will remind me to be more careful!

You said she had some "left". It obviously seemed to be the right one for you (cuz it worked :)) but make sure there was enough left .... if you only have enough for a day or two, and it doesn't kill off all the bacteria, you will just get sick again, and then it will be harder to kick. If there's only few days you need to call the doctor, fess up, and get more. When I get a uti I am usually put on meds for 7-10 days.
