I have some amount of pain every day. However, every other day I have cold sensations, and the pain is tolerable. An alternating days I have excruciating pain. At first, the cold days were on bowel program days and I used to think they were correlated. Now, after I had the bowel accident which reset my b.p. days, I have an excruciating pain on my bowel program days.
Anybody out there have pain every other day? what is it caused from?

I have heard of the pain coming in cycles before. I've never heard a good explaination for it. IIRC, Wise once talked about folks who say they are are a 3-day cycle and he couldn't think of anything that could explain how this happened.

I talked with the most honest doctor in this city this evening on the phone and I asked him the question of my own (which resembles this one) Mine come every 10-12 days, the really bad ones, and he said it could well be a seizure pertaining to my injury. A small bit of brain cell damage gets stimulated by something you encounter or even a process that cycles through the brain and it acts as a trigger for the seizure. People can smell strange things, hear strange noises, or like me, its a motor seizure. I have smaller ones inbetween the biggies, but they don't last much longer than 20 minutes. The little ones seems to build up to the big one, and then I'm screwed.

Along with my original message, I also feel objects such as razor blades and knives. I know this because I am a C3-4 SCI. I feel these objects in my hands as well as from shoulders to toes. Has anyone heard of this?

njkottman, I have pain in the same cycles. One day will be the worse, then the next day it's no where near as the day before. The 3rd day I will have pain but will not be as bad as the first. I have notice when I pass gas I always feel better. That's why I do push ups in my chair because that always helps to pass gas. I will go out to lunch in my car so I can lay back in my car for a few minutes, then when I get out I some times let out a BIG fart and makes the pain feel less. I try to take a hot shower in the morning to help with the pain also. I know a hot bath will help some also. I try to eat fiber to help the shit past through my system also. Peanuts always helps in my bowel program.
You are not alone, I have the same pain program as you.

while this post in not related to SCI,it does relate to 'cycles" the body can create in some pretty bizarre ways.one really crazy thing that used to actually happen to my oldest son when he was an infant was colic, but ONLY every other day.never ever two days in a row,ALWAYS,without fail, every other day.his ped could not explain this one to me.it was just really insane.i mean i could actually count on this every other day that it was just going to 'be there'.i think our bodies just 'do' certain cycles for some odd reason that we just really don't have the capascity to really understand yet.this was just sooo insane and went on for about a month, and started for him about three weeks after he was born.never ever got any even close type of explanation for this either.just freaky really.
i just wanted to throw this out there just becasue it shows our bodies can and do tend to cycle things.dont understand it either,it can happen tho with more than just pain.but this was also bowel related too.colic stems from a not yet totally mature digestive system.maybe there IS some wierd connection to just bowel issues???just a little something to really mess with your head.marcia
