I Have only been a member for a few days and find a lot of talk about pain in all it's forms and levels. I find I am now worring about the Pins and Needles in my feet, can it be classed as pain. What range of drugs are used for it. I have a mechanical heart valve in the mitral position so warfrin is not an option its a must. In hospital I was given Oxycontin (What a bad dude it is) and anti-inflammatory.
If you find this hard to read pls forgive me on my second attempt.

Well, does it hurt? You may very well have a neurological condition, but if the sensations are not truly detrimental to your life, then why would you seek a chemical (drug) solution?

If it does "hurt" bad enough then you should consult a pain specialist that is familar with neuropathy. And good luck to you. It's a rough road. Try Neurontin and Lyrica. Those two have worked best for the broadest range of people I know. Including me.

Mustbelucky,

Welcome to the CCC. No need to apologize for lack of info, your still new to this.

Neuropathy is just as bad, if not worse to many folks than regular pain, most especially in the feet. I too suffer greatly from it. You must feel bad enough to have posted your concerns. Consult your Doctor, there are many meds currently available to help you out. There is absolutely no need to suffer in this day and age. It maybe a trial and error game to find what works for you, we are all different. The following link will give some info;

There is a lot on the web about it too so do a little research. Hope you feel better,

Pam

i remember when my neuro pain started, at first it didnt register as pain's but his weird feeling , this numbness that somehow is felt , it started as the feeling ones get when having their limbs get blood back after being very cold.
their aren't treat words for it, pins and needle to constant bee stings to shocks top lancating tearing pain.
i have it manage the last month finally.
it is a long process, i am surprised they started you on Oxycontin so quickly,
Oxycontin does work pretty well for me.

Most people try neurontin for that pins-n-needles. Not that it works. :( At least it didn't for me...Many people say they have luck with it.

I am just curious MBL,what was actually "IN" your cord that bled?an AVM,cavernoma,fistulla?there are a few different types of vascular malfomations that you can get in your brain and spinal cord.i am just guessing that you had 'something' there that succumbed to the thinned blood?my NS had told me when my cavernoma was first Dxed within my lower c spine spinal cord that i had already had at least one bleed,and i was not to go anywhere near anything that could possibly thin the blood(ASA,NSAIDS) since it does increase the risk of having one.just wondering what caused yours.Marcia

Only you can say if it's painful or not. For some folks it is, for other's it's just annoying. I have a little of it in one toe from nerve damage from an injury, but it just falls in the category of paresthesia. It feels irritating and quite uncomfortable at times, but never really to the point of calling it pain.

If you had someone prescribing anti-inflammatories for this type of symptom, I have to question how experienced they are with neuropathy. I'd be surprised if it helped that at all.
