Should one?
My friend and I are doing a website. What's the advantages of google ads or disadvantages?

How much can you actually make?

Totally depends on the site content & the traffic. I have adsense on a few low traffic sites & don't even come close to covering my hosting costs. I haven't put too much effort into trying to make it work, but a few bucks here & there can't hurt.

On the flipside, a buddy of mine brings in $600+/mo from adsense on his forum (~13,000 members, ~1,300,000 posts).

It's worth trying, but don't expect to generate a boatload of money.

I've setup Google ads for a client and myself. It is easy, but not very profitable on low traffic sites. Last I checked, the site owner receives $0.22 per clicked ad, so it takes a number of clicks to get anything going.

I've never seen $.22/click consistently. It's usually only two or three for my account.

To really make money you will need a big audience and a way to monetize your website. John Chow (http://www.johnchow.com/) makes $11,000 a month from his website on ads alone.

He's crazy good at it. I've seen him on tv with Leo Laporte
