View Full Version : Video games/gaming.
I thought it might be nice to have a thread to talk about video games (like ones you buy on a disc ;) ).
Could people state their platform when talking about games? I sometimes get excited about a game, then learn it's for a platform I don't have. :)
So, I have a PlayStation2. That's my only machine. Me and the bf "inherited" it from my bf's dad. Before getting this machine (and some games), I had never played before.
I bought a few games from ebay recently. One of them was God Of War 2.
I squealed when I saw the graphics for myself (I get really excited about stuff like this, lol). Haven't played much, but it's looking fantastic. Only played on easy setting too, as I'm not that great at gaming (I still enjoy the experience).
Anyone else got this game?

Todd, from the trailer, I couldn't really tell if there was a lot of environment to explore - is it mainly battles?
I do like killing beasts, but I also love having a lot of a "world" to move around in, and I like interacting with stuff too (like in the Tomb Raider games, if you're familiar with them).

I play online in a progressve story world, where it's quest based more than chop chop type.
The world is realy neat, with huge maps and you can solo or party to do stuff.
NWN2 though uses alot of power, so you need a good comp.

Are you kidding me, K? There's a massive world to explore in Oblivion and there are at least 6 towns (each with their own style) in which you can buy property and and talk to the different people and explore their cultures.
It's a great game. I loved it. And they also just released an expansion pack for Oblivion in late March. It's worth getting the expansion also. I personally enjoyed the plot in the expansion pack much more so than Oblivion's original storyline.

Juke,
No, Oblivion isn't an online RPG like The Lord of the Rings RPG nor is the story similiar to the book by Tolkien.

The graphics won't be as pretty as PS2 games, but Chrono Trigger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Trigger) is a classic with lots of room to explore; there's a PS1 version available.
Chrono Cross (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Cross) is also a good title from the PS1.

Oh, I was only going on what that short trailer I posted showed. :) I've since seen a video that someone made showing themselves playing, and I can now see there is a lot more to the game. But those arms waving about at the bottom of the screen is a new thing for me.
@ Addiesue - so I tried the Socom demo today...ah, I wasn't immediately impressed. :o
@ Steven - aw, poorer graphics than ps2 would put me off, I reckon (ooh, get me!) We actually got a ps1 machine and some games from my bf's dad...but we sold them on ebay without investigating. Oops.
I see there's plenty of devotion on YouTube for the Chrono games...even people who've filmed themselves playing the music. :agog: :D

He has progressed over the last 9 - 10 months to beating golf and tennis games then "MX vs ATV unleashed" and was ripping it up on "Guitar Hero" until you have to sip and puff at the same time. The Elder Scrolls sounds like just the type of game I like. I've been playing PC based games for years (Lincoln and I used to play Pong together) and do enjoy RPG's. My nephew has been trying to get me into World of Warcraft (I think mainly because he wants to beat my butt!). My present PC can't handle the graphics though and a number of other games I've bought recently just bog down my computer.
I broke down earlier in the month and bought a new computer with enough memory and a descent graphics board. It is a Vista system and I don't want to go back to XP, but finding games that are properly marked as being compatible with Vista is another matter.
Do they have a version of The Elder Scrolls that is compatible with Vista?

Mahjongg & Civilization for me. I've found that if I sit in my chair at the computer, I forget to do weight shifts. That's bad.
I can play card games, mahjongg & Civilization using Dragon. Yes, it takes time. But I can do that while lying in bed, so I don't have to worry as much about weight shifts. But other games, those not "turned based," are nowhere as easy.

I'm not sure about the ps2 but when I was playing Hitman on my PC there were some stages where I got a glance of the character and at certain levels where the Hitman is conversing with some character the camera angle moves automatically and you are able to see him and believe me you don’t have to be lucky to spot him in that angle.;)
In all it was an amazingly realistic game to be played and I think you should have played it though in the starting stages you will feel that its a little hard but as you progress through the game you'll get the grip of it and definitely like it.

My daughter has old PS1 and PS2 systems under the debris somewhere - I liked Gran Turismo - bought a used copy of Descent 1 which I loved on the PC but I could never master PS controls - duh.
i love video games :) i use to play console games (NES/SNES/N64/GAMECUBE/SEGA/PS2) before my injury. the last games i got to play were the Ratchet and Clank games, i loved em, a lot of fun. i miss playing console games, ive been thinking of trying this out http://www.quadcontrol.com/joystick.htm but i dont know. after my injury i got hooked on GuildWars http://www.guildwars.com/ (an online massive-multi player game for the PC) its even more quad friendly than World of Warcraft and its FREE(besides actually buying the game itself) , no monthly charge, it has great graphics, cool story, lots of fun, easy to play, you can change many of the keyboard controls to your liking and a fair amount of the game can be played by "point and click". i have a laptop and use my pinky knuckle (cuz i have quad hands c5/6) on the touchpad, its the easiest/quickest way ive found to navigate the cursor. ive tried trackball mice(too slow), adapting a regular mouse(too slow/pain in my ass:p ), Roller II Joystick http://www.enablemart.com/Catalog/Trackballs-Joysticks/Roller-II-Joystick/ (pretty sweet/slow but easy to use/plus you can add big buttons), and Cirque http://www.cirque.com/pages/?section=3&page=31 (works just like a laptop touchpad/very nice). Currently im playing Civilization IV http://www.firaxis.com/games/game_detail.php?gameid=6 for the PC, its fun, addicting and quad friendly.

I have been hearing that Bioshock just may be the game of the year. This news is coming from guys in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. I stopped playing PC games almost a decade ago because I developed really bad carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. Too much time on the keyboard. I downloaded Bioshock the demo a couple of days ago and this game could bring me out of retirement. However, I don't think I will be able to play the game using only a Kensington Expert Mouse.
Back to work.
I've got a gaming question, so I thought this thread would be a good place to ask it. :)
Ok, I have a PS2, and I have nearly finished Ratchet & Clank (the first game). I now have Ratchet & Clank: Locked And Loaded, which is the second in the series.
I have a save file from the first game. According to the booklet with the second game, I can carry some information over from that, to L & L.
(I think I read on IGN or somewhere that you can carry some weapons over from the first game).
It says that at a certain point in L & L, I will be prompted to insert a memory card with the save on it.
I don't understand how this works, though. Can anyone explain?
Le Type Français

Karen,
Use the same memory card for both games, then when prompted, it may carry over for you.
I haven't played either of those games so I'm guessing.
Cheers Todd. That's what I was thinking.
I'm not sure when it's going to prompt me...it might be quite a way into the game. I've logged about 50 hours on the first game, and this one is said to be twice the size, so it might be a while away anyway.

I'm kinda addicted to my Nintendo Game Boy, but I bought Debbie an Xbox a few years ago and I was thinking of getting her a new game for Christmas.
Todd, she is a Lara Croft fan, too. Any idea if those games are available on Xbox? And does anyone know if games for the 360 play on the older Xbox? Obviously we have not bought any new games in some time, but I know every time Nintendo comes out with a new Game Boy, they change the cartridge size, too. Really irritating. Anyhow... Debbie's main interest right now is movies. I figured one good new game would be a nice change of pace for her, but I doubt I'll get her more than that. Lara is definitely a top contender, but I'll have to think about what else she might enjoy. She's into action/adventure flicks in general so probably something of that nature. Kendell,
http://deepdiscount.com/ is an amazing site for any type of media.
I use it all the time.
Anyone played Psychonauts on PS2?
Or Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty? I see that IGN give this one 9.7 out of 10! I've had the game a while, but not played it yet.

Recently purchased a PS3 and am sporadically playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Really good first-person shooter with graphics that I think rival Crysis (PC). That is if the PS3 is plugged into a monitor/TV that supports higher resolutions (1080p).

Oh cvelusc, I want a PS3 really badly!
Ooh, I see IGN.com give Call Of Duty 4 (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/objects/902/902587.html) a rating of 9.3.
There are some PS3-only games I'd love - mainly Ratchet And Clank Future: Tools
Of Destruction (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/objects/819/819456.html), and Drake's Fortune (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/objects/812/812550.html).

Keps, COD4 definitely earned that rating as the game is quite good. Been really pleased with my PS3 purchase, and if you can find one used, the deal is even sweeter. Got mine through Craigslist for $350. The $350 accounted for the PS3 (60GB) with COD4, two controllers, headset, and a Blu-ray video. I consider the PS3 a worthwhile investment considering that the PS3's graphics rivals ~$1,250 PCs.
Plus, and I'm sure you'd probably like this feature, the PS3 can download demos directly to the unit and guess what... Ratchet and Clank is one of the games available to download.
Anyone played Psychonauts on PS2?
Played a little of the game on PC and the experience was quite hypnotic. If you're into wacky and weird things then the game may be for you.

Wow - that is a GREAT deal you got!*jealous* I've looked at PS3's on ebay, and they all seem to go for at least £350 + (about $700, I think). :zombie: And, games (new) seem to be in the range of at least £40.

Ah! :o So...you have to have the machine connected to your computer to do that? (I've never used online play or anything, so I have no idea how any of that works...)

Hehe, "wacky and weird" is a good way to describe the game. :applaud:
I have a PlayStation 3!!!!!!!! My lovely boyfriend totally suprised me recently by suddenly returning home with the machine, and a bundle of two games and two films. (It went on his overdraft, lol).
My bf is so sweet - he said he thought I should have something nice as I'd been suffering lately (health crap). :)
@ Cvelusc - it came to £350 (about $700) - and it's a 40 gb machine. Ack.
Apparently, there are no more 60 gb machine being sold in England - only 40.
Anyway, the games are Ratchet And Clank, which I am getting through and really enjoying. The other game was MotorStorm, my bf tried to get me Drake's Fortune, but it was out of stock. Anyway, my bf loves MotorStorm, so it worked out great.
We are perplexed as to how exactly to set the machine up for online use.
Oh, and I've read and heard more about The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and I am salivating over it. Maybe I'll ask for it for my birthday.

You've gotta get COD4!!! I've got UT3, assassins creed, lair (i cant play), NCAA '08, Madden '08, and i barely touch them cause im sooo addicted to COD4. Drake is really fun, but it'll only last a week if you play like me.....better to rent it.

But Chess, isn't COD4 a FPS? I'm not keen on those...Or sports-related games. :o
Hey, I tried a demo of Drake. Well, I only saw a fraction of the game, but I was underwhelmed. The write-ups I'd seen had it as a male-fronted Tomb Raider, but what I saw seemed a way below the quality of, say Tomb Raider Anniversary.
Btw, you sound like a gaming expert - I NEVER complete games in a week!. I just finished Psychonauts on PS2, and it took me about 32 hours - I've seen others say they've done it in 12. :zombie:

COD4 is a fps, but even people who hate fps's love it like my brother and cousin. Imagine playing Drake but where the enemies are real people that talk to you. If you get ur ps3 online then rent it and play for at least three hours online to where the controls become second hand nature. Not implying anything about older folk, but my dad is in his 50's and plays at least once a week on his pc. The worst thing is learning the controls.

Yeah, I would go so far as to say I hate fpss. Maybe there's hope if even fps-haters like your brother and couin like it, though. :)
Every gaming magazine I see recently is singing the praises of COD4...it's inescapable! And they all say that playing online is better than alone.
Can I try a demo online?
My bf thinks he might know what to do to get online now so hopefully he'll try it later (right now he's playing MotorStorm and cursing at crashing, hehe).
3 hours?! I don't think I've ever played for over about 2 hours at a time. My head might explode if I went over that.
Lol, I hope I don't qualify for "old" at 30. ;)

16 hours? *sweats* I just can't imagine doing that. :) I can imagine having friends to shout you awake helps. ;)
I finshes Ratchet & Clank TOD. This was the shortest game I've done. I couldn't believe how quickly it was over, and the final boss was soo easy. Much easier than the final bosses in other R & C games. I beat this one on only my second try (a record for me, lol), and it took about 5 minutes.
Anyway, now I'm gonna go through again on challenge mode....although so far there's been no noticeable increase in difficulty.
And ARGH! My copy of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty for PS2 won't work! :(
I press "start" as directed, choose "new game", and it sends me back to having to press start...only to get the menu again. Grrrr.
Woo! Got my PS3 online...kind of. My bf sorted out the "how", but we only have room for one cable from our main computer, and I need that at times - like now - when I use the laptop.
But anyway, I've got registered etc. Yay! And downloaded a free demo of Devil May Cry 4 from the shop. I got to kill some smallish beasties, which was fun.
Then I had to battle a big boss, Berial. I failed miserably at that. But it was fun trying! And that game looks great, too.
Thanks for the help! :)

awesome, keps!!! When you have some extra cash and your bf feels like it, look at investing in a wireless router and adapter. Google for something like "linksys wusb11 wireless-b usb network adapter" for one type. You'll only need one for each pc because the ps3 has a built in wifi. That way you can be on all at same time without hassle of unhooking connections.
And ARGH! My copy of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty for PS2 won't work! :(
I press "start" as directed, choose "new game", and it sends me back to having to press start...only to get the menu again. Grrrr.Keps, the 40GB PS3 omits 4 distinct features from the 60GB model:
* Smaller hard drive - obviously;
* Only 2 USB ports instead of 4 - no biggie;
* No more memory cards slots - a bit of a pain, but u can get an external USB card reader; and
* No more PS2 backwards compatibility.
MGS2 simply won't work on a PS3. I'm surprised the menu boots up at all.
Chris.
Chess - my bf went "oh yeah!" when I told him your suggestion. So thanks again. :)
cspanos - sorry, I didn't explain well - I tried MGS2 in my PS2 machine, not the PS3. :o As it happens, I had been pressing the wrong button to select (it required circle instead of the usual x).
I knew the 40 gb machines weren't PS2 compatible, so I haven't dared try.
Guys another question - sorry! ;) What's this about regions and PS3? I thought I'd read that PS3 isn't bound by region coding discs, but my PS3 discs say region 2 on them.
Have I dreamt reading about PS3 being region free?
Chess
02-20-2008, 06:05 PM
sony published games are suppose to be region free, but they cant make other publishers do region coding. Also, the ps3 isn't region free unless you have an HD TV, so a ps3 from the States wont work on some tv's in the U.K. Kinda goofy, huh?
Wow Chess, you really know your stuff.
I do have an HDTV, so that wouldn't be a problem.
I have 3 games for PS3, and all say Region 2...they must not be Sony published, then?
Are potential problems caused by PAL and NTSC differences? I know in the UK, Australia and NZ PAL is used, and in the States NTSC, but I have no idea what they are.

But the friggin thing crapped the bed. I put the old video card back in, put the old RAM back in and tried to start it up but no go. Therefore I think my motherboard is fried.

GTA 4 is taking over my life. Four of my colleagues have it too. It apparently irks the girls in my office when we have daily conversations about it because they only realise the cars, restaurants and places to visit aren't real when we begin to talk about beating gangsters to death and escaping in a Banshee riddled with shotgun holes.
It is a work of genius.

I've mastered GTA4 on the Xbox 360 through perserverance and the fact that the triggers are easy to use with your wrist or side of your hand. Driving a car in it I'm awesome - better than AB mates. I'm a little slower on shooting but the new targeting system makes it easier. First game I've truly enjoyed post SCI.

1) Does any one "Create Video Games" (writes programs code)? or
2A) Does any one have a favorite hand held (ie; gameboy,PSP, any type of PDA & or cellphone{MUST PLAY DETAILED GAMES my cell phone takes calls too and has cheesy crapGames})?
2B) What is your Favorite hand held device game/s?
2C) Does the handheld sync with a laptop or desktop, and if so how (Bluetooth, USB, IR, WiFi, removable data card)?
Just curious and wanting to expand entertainment horizons exterior to the boob tube.

I dunno how useful they'd be for quads, but for the PS3 controller you can get these plastic thingies which clip on to the L2 and R2 buttons (they make them a lot bigger, and easier to use). I wouldn't be without them.

I've also got The Orange Box and GTA IV for the PS3. Haven't looked at The Orange Box yet, but I had a go at GTA IV. I didn't do much, as my stomach was bad, but it's looking very interesting. I had problems with the screen being too dark - I need to sort out the setting. At first look, the game seems overwhelmingly complicated for me, but then I thought that about Oblivion at first, and it wasn't long before I got the hang of that.
I wanted Ratchet And Clank as well, but HMV had sold out. Boo. I played through it twice, before my original disc fecked up, and darnit, I wanna go through it again. (I am obsessed, and also, I wanna get some o' them trophies).

I have a huge ethernet cable to get me online...so I don't bother unlesss I want to get stuff from the store or do updates and stuff. And argh! ANOTHER update recently. Still, at least I managed to miss the 2.40 version, which apparently caused trouble for those who downloaded it.
Ooh, The Orange Box is so good. Portal is fabulous head-scratching puzzles. l Only had a peek at Half-Life, but what little I saw looked intriguing. Team Fortress is online multiplayer only, so dunno about that.
I haven't gone back to GTA IV yet. I know, I know - I'm abnormal.
im gonna buy a ps3..do i need a wireless adapter for my ps3 to connect to the net?
No you do not need to buy a wireless adapter. Some of the updates for the PS3 have to do with Blu-ray player and mandatory copyright protection (software).
I'm in love with LocoRoco.

I have the 40GB and the wireless works just fine, although I'm using an ethernet cable just because it's better for streaming movies and mp3s from my PC, I can stream HD movies without any problems too using Nero MediaHome.
I really want to buy GTA IV, but I just keep putting it off.

Oblivion is a masterfuly made game! I've been playing it for 2 years straight. Just got Shivering Isles recently and WOW - very nice expansion. Nights of the Nine quest is nice too. Do give it a try! You'll love it! GTA 4 is my next move - and maybe a little warhammer until stargate worlds comes out.

What are the top games u like and what are they played on?....I have playstation 2 and have not keep up with the games in a few years. My favorite is OFF ROARD FURY the original first one. The CRASH BANDICOOT were fun to play when the kids were younger. Was thinking of getting back into it for this winter. Me and my boys use to play so much I could not feel my finger tips for days after playing alot.....lol

The Shivering Isles is an amazing expansion. I loved it more than the original story.

Give us your stats, then! :)
We get screwed in the UK - we can't buy the Shivering Isles expansion seperately like you can in the States. If - like me - you have the version of Oblivion which has only the Knights Of The Nine expansion, you have to buy the game again in the Game Of The Year edition (which has the Shivering Isles).

Bugger. How do I avoid it?
it's easy to avoid, Rhino - don't ever allow yourself to sleep 3 nights in a row after having contracted the 'Poryphic Hemophilia' disease. If you get this disease (by fighting hand to hand w/a vampire), cure it before sleeping 3 nights and you will not be affected by the bug. The bug comes into play once you become a vamp. Not much sense in playing a vamp, IMO. Most of the benefits are easily replicated with constant effect enchantments w/o resorting to vampirism - unless you just dig that kinda thing.
i've logged an embarrassing # of hours playing the Elder Scrolls series!
I've got a 52 level (one short of max if you start w/all 25's in your major skills) char right now i'm enjoying - haven't done a single quest yet, just leveled in the wilderness/grinding. Now, going back to do all quests at the highest possible difficulty w/a max level character! SOOO MUCH FUN!!!
I'll try to take a pic of my TV and post a shot of my stats...it's silly, but i've got grinding to a science and it only takes ~25 hours or so to make max level.

nah...i tell myself i'm gonna but i get 5-6 books into it and just stop.
any book that is worth decent $ i'll read, or if it's part of a quest, or has a title i've never seen before. most books have been in the past couple of elder scrolls games, anyway.

I used to love playing my ps2 when I was a student, however one year on. I've realised that you can't have a job, play computer games and have a life at the same time. Time is really precious, and every precious bit of time you have left should be spent in growing, or spending time with friends and family. We'll for me anyway.
Soooo maybe I should get a wii :applaud:
I'm realling thinking of getting one, because it get's everyone involved, and is more social than killing 10 hours of your weekend on gta.
Since I left uni, I've left my ps2 on my old student flat, and have a psp which I use for ebooks reading pretty much. The PSP doesn;t have a defauly ebook reader, but you'll find the Pandora Battery (http://www.pandoragadgets.co.uk) to be your PSPs best friend, just downgrade your machine so you can read ebooks on your PSP.
Play PC games. Cybernations since it's web based and only takes 1-10 min. a day or every other day. Can play once every 7-15 days if you want but then you get charged interest on your Bills that you owe. Can literally play a minute every day if you want to pay bills and collect taxes and then spend more time when you actually want to get into it. Have to get in an alliance or you'll get slaughtered once you go into War mode.
Play Galactic Civilizations II: 1-2 games once every 9-12 months. It takes so long and too much time on PC is very painful. It's very hard to stop playing once you start. Wish Dragon NatSpeaking would work with it though. No DRM crap from Stardock.
Also just played a couple games of Sins of a Solar Empire ( SoaSE ). Again very addicting, so won't play much, even though would like to. No DRM crap from Stardock. I forgot I've only played the single player missions. Haven't done the online multi-player and don't think I will.
Thanks I found it and I really enjoy playing it.....not shooting all the time is my type of game.

Witness saw missing Ont. boy the day he vanished: Police
Tiffany Crawford and Linda Nguyen
Published: Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Police confirmed late Wednesday that a woman who lives along a hiking trial where Brandon Crisp's bicycle was found last week spoke to the missing boy on the path on Thanksgiving Day, the day the teen ran away from his Barrie, Ont., home.
This is the first witness to have come forward to investigators since the 15 year old went missing 10 days ago, when he left his home after an argument with his parents about not being allowed to play computer games.
His yellow mountain bike was found on a hiking trail, about 20 kilometres from his house.
"She came across him walking in the same direction as her. He told her he was having an issue with his bike," Sgt. Dave Goodbrand with the Barrie police said Wednesday of the alleged witness sighting. "This is a good thing for the investigation because we always had that little doubt that someone else had put the bike there. Now, we're confident that we're in the right area looking for Brandon."
Search efforts continued on the ground and in cyberspace Wednesday for the missing boy.
"Every day gets more and more concerning for his safety," said Goodbrand. "Especially with no contact. We're not getting any contact from his (computer) user accounts and his video game accounts. And that's concerning because he was so addicted and he left home because of that."
Police and Brandon's parents believe an addiction to video games may be a factor in the teen's disappearance.
His parents think he may have run away from home after they took away his video games.
Steve and Angelika Crisp say that for the past three years, their son has been obsessed with playing an online game called Call of Duty 4, often until 4 a.m. Friends have told officers they have had no contact with him.
Police say it's unlikely Brandon would log into the game under a new moniker.
"From my understanding, he has worked so hard to build his credibility and if you start a new profile you have to start at the bottom and work your way up again."
A police team skilled in computers is "chasing every possible angle," said Goodbrand, who added that Microsoft is also helping with the investigation.
Goodbrand said there are many angry gamers around the world who are blogging about their opposition to the fact that the police and family are blaming the boy's disappearance on a video game addiction.
A Facebook page dedicated to finding the boy, called "Where is Brandon Crisp?" had more than 5,500 members as of Wednesday, including one claiming to be the boy - a claim that police now say they will investigate.
Barrie is about 100 kilometres north of Toronto.
Wow monkeygirl. Now that's a gaming addiction. :agog:I hope Brandon is found safe soon. I can imagine he wouldn't want to start CoD again with a new profile, if he's played so much and built his reputation. Very worrying.
I still haven't started GTA IV. I don't know when I will now, but I'm glad the game will have trophies (PS3) if I do.
WipEout HD. What a game. Unfortunately, I'm hideously bad at any type of racing game, so I am bloody awful at it. It has trophies, but I'm fairly sure I won't manage to get any apart from the one bronze one I got - and that was for the simple action of taking a picture in game!
It's awesome looking, though. And it feels great to be racing whilst listening to your own music (the game lets you select from your own music files you have on the PS3).

Hey Art, I looked at High Velocity Bowling on the store today (it costs £4.99 in the UK), and I see you use the motion sensing capability of the Sixaxis to play.

You select x on control to select were to bowl. You can bowl stright up or hold down on the right 2 for the spin on the ball. You just move your arm back and then forward with the control in your hand to bowl. Just think as the control as your bowling ball. I play it laying in bed....so if I can do it anyone can. I have played it from my wheelchair to. I don't think they have a demo download for it. Most fun is playing it online. Gets boring playing alone.
I have meet like 5 friends so far playing that game. Really can't go wrong for the price of the game. It has really taken off since they made it playable online. You can chat as you play if you both have voice which is way fun with this game also. I bought a bluetooth motorola h550 for about 30 bucks which works great with ps3 as well as your cell phones. I would think any bluetooth would work as long as it is 2.0. All you have to do is go to settings and set it up under bluetooth settings. You also have to open ports in your router for the voice to work. You can find which ports to open on the ps3 site. Note: You need to open other ports to play most ps3 games online anyway.....and the ps3 site gives them to you so you can open your ports up if you have to.

By the way I have a 80g system.....I see thats not gona last long before its full.
I see you can upgrade by putting in a larger harddrive from a notebook puter.
They talk about it in the forums on ps3 site and you can google it and can even see how they do it by u tube.
Just for your info if needed.
Have you been to the mall yet?
Interesting place to meet your friends and you even have your own place.

I had a 40gb machine, but wanted more space, so I replaced the drive with a 320 gb one! It's fab - now I don't have to keep deleting stuff I want to keep. I think I have about 205 gbs free still, too.
It's quite simple to replace the drive. The worst part is undoing the screws on the drive holder thingy - they are so hard.
Here's my new hard drive:

Yes, that's just what I did. It took most of an hour to copy my data onto the external (I had about 34 gb), and then the same again to put everything onto the new hard drive.
I now use the external to do periodic back ups of my new hard drive - just in case.

dead space for 360 one of the best made single player games I have ever played. Fallout 3 was really well made as well. Gears 2 coop is worth it as well
My PSN id is okapiuk if anyone here wants to add me.
Since I can't play TF2 since breaking my Sixaxis' right stick by throwing it in a temper, I've been playing more on LittleBigPlanet. I love this game! So much cuteness. I squealed with laughter when someone followed me into my pod, and we started doing a weird arm-swinging dance together.
And when 3 other people invaded my pod, and started taking group pictures.

I can't count how many hours I put into super street fighter 2 turbo the new challengers. I haven't tried it on xbox live, the new version looks cool. On new controllers the moves seem harder to do, must just have to get used to another system setup.

I'm hideous at fighting games. But I really love the look of Soul Calibur 4.
I do have Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online, but haven't played much. I suck really bad at it, but it's a fantastic looking game.

I'd seen you had a lot of the COD: WaW trophies, but I didn't know you were so close to platinum.
Ha, I love the trophies thing, even though I don't reckon I'll be getting a platinum for anything any time soon.
I'm always doing the "compare trophies" thing with those on my friend list, too, just to see how they're doing.
Have you seen Linger In Shadows on the PSN store? That is like the easiest trophies ever. I've got 80% of them, but been to lazy to go back and get the others.
I'm enjoying picking up the LittleBigPlanet ones at the moment.

Get Oblivion! I have poor concentration, and I played it in smallish chunks (even though I did log so many hours on it).
I wonder about MGS4, but then I wonder, as I have no history with the MGS series, so I worry that would reduce enjoyment.

Got into playing mario cart online, wii's online is a pain in the ass to setup but cart online against people from all over the world swearing and yelling at their tv or projector screens, priceless gamer stress, from 1st to 12th in one bad situation. COD5 is still taking a ton of mine time...
I just got done watching my buddy levi lavalle do a double 360 on his sled during the X games, he a cool ass dude in real life too!!
It really sucks that gaming isn't what it was before I got hurt, I mean it was something you did when you could not do anything else or what you did when you should be doing something else, well it was like that for me anyway, its really getting to me that I can't say " shit I should have wasted 6 hours gaming and get up and fly thru all the things I needed to do in that time"

I have always enjoyed MMORPGS for the PC
These can be a lot of fun and addictive. They are very interactive as well.
I am talking games like Eve Online, World of Warcraft, EverQuest 2 , etc etc
These normally have a monthly fee of ~$15 though after the first month.
Currently I am taking a long break from gaming in general
I also appreciate First Person Shooter games like Halo2
