Here is a link (http://www.jackkentcookefoundation.org./jkcf_web/content.aspx?page=3465147) to the press release from the JKC Foundation regarding their 2007 Graduate Scholars. Included among this group is my son, Noah Smith, aka Buckwheat, a long-time member of CC.
We have been aware of the award since mid-June. The Foundation, however, asks that public recognition await their official press release. It is now news to share. Noah just returned from the University of Maryland where the Foundation hosted all of its 2007 scholars for a three-day weekend to recognize their accomplishments.
Obviously, we are extremely proud. Law School is the first thing aside from rehab improvements that has truly excited him since becoming injured. Berkeley was his first choice. He learned of his acceptance there in March. We wondered how we would ever pay for it in this lifetime. Now we know.
Our local paper will be carrying a story this week and I intend to link that as well. I am currently with Noah in Berkeley getting him situated prior to classes which begin next Monday, the 20th.
