Just returned from my annual health and SCI evaluation. Learned my kidney function is diminishing--at 40 percent now, down from 50 percent two years ago. Was told that major surgery shocks kidneys and many times they do not recover fully. I've had four major surgeries in four years, and my Doc says that is most likely the main cause of lessened function. Anyone else out there having similiar problems?

As long as all possible causes have been tested and/or treated -to be sure.Have you had urodynamics testing to make sure you are not having reflux? Have you had numerous inections??? Diabetes? High bood pressure???

Yes, I had a urodynamics test which showed normal capacity, etc. I've experienced one or two UTIs a year for the past six years. Blood sugar is high, but not into the diabetes range and I'm working to lower it. Blood pressure is very good. Thanks for the input.
