Recently in my life, my partner and i have been discussing how hard it must be to be straight. I mean seriously, men have it the worst, always paranoid about gender roles, never revealing any element of their character which could be deemed even a LITTLE bit feminine. It must be tough to be SO unsure of ones' gender role....so self conscious...SO insecure.
Seriously, I think that it would make the world a much nicer place if science were to work on a cure for homophobia...give everyone just a LITTLE taste of what its like to be attracted to the same gender. It might make the world a much nicer place :)

No worries! There are asian scientists making Angelina Jolie androids with one or BOTH sets of sex organs so those confused can figure it all out in private.
Incidently, if two hetero men don't like each other, they duke it out until one or both are beaten and never come back. Two gay men will just continue to talk shit behind each other's back while keeping a facade they are friends.
What's up with that?

Jake, I am entirley sure homophobia in many males is caused by them already feeling a little attracted to the same gender.

Is there a link between homophobia and latent homosexual feelings?

In my opinion in many cases, yes. Sexuality is not necassarily black and white but can be considered a spectrum, I beleive many people may be nominally considered straight but may also feel some attraction to the same gender. When confronted with societies insistence on labelling this can lead to self loathing and homosexuals become the target. This subject was covered quite well in a film called "American Beauty".
Witness also the number of prominent homophobic religious people getting caught having gay sex. People that "protest too much" as Shakespeare put it always raise a red flag to me.
