program to open jpg and gif files

How do I find out what program to use to open jpg and gif files on my Windows 98 computer and can I change it? They show up with an Internet Explorer icon on my computer. That doesn't seem right. It's my back-up laptop.

Go into... um..... Damn 98.... um ?

2 ways... right click the file and select "Open With" Then Make sure "Always Use" is checked, thdn select program.

If you find the 'File Association" tab, XP is under "Add/Remove Programs", you set it there.

Third way, thought of a third... Open a Image viewer, 98 has a default one but i forget what it is, and use it to take over association. Most programs have that option.

Thanks for the info. I went to HELP and found this: file extensions, associating with programs and got it. Kodak Imaging is the default viewer.
