I know, I know.... I waited until the 11th hour and it's all my own fault..
I was doing my taxes today, I have some work income for 06. I realized I never received a statement from SSDI for 06. Can I file without it? How to I figure that income into my tax return for my EITC without the statement? Any way to get a copy in time to file?
Should I just let it fly and file an amended return later?

Ha, ha Jen, the 11th hour indeed. :agog:
Do it right.
File an extension ASAP.
Use Form 4868 which is available at www.irs.gov.
You should not be liable for any taxes this year due to your disability, assuming your work income was modest. Normally, you must estimate your tax liability when submitting an extension and pay up front, then submit an amended return when your actual liability or refund is determined. Since you are not likely to owe anything, you need not pay BUT you must file.
You have until Tuesday to get it postmarked. That is a virtual eon for procrastinators such as yourself. :)
You can do it.

You can file without the statement from SSA. They report to IRS. Just add up the gross received all year. This is real easy if you are not having them withhold any tax. If you are, you may be able to access your personal account online www.ssa.gov . There is a worksheet to determine how much if any of your ssdi is taxable. If your adjusted gross is below 50k, you can file for free www.irs.gov .

If you don't owe any taxes, I seriously wouldn't worry about it... they don't mind keeping that money a little longer and getting the interest on it!
