I am trying to install XP service pack 2 after reimaging my pc w XP service pack 1a. At the point of SP 2 finishing installation, I keep getting at a stand still with the message

"The procedure entry point GetIMUS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL."

Any suggestions? I guess I will google this to see if I can figure it out.

:( Hellpp

No problem Liz, I'm glad to try to help.

When I read "getIMUS" I thought maybe it was a virus named after the recent news articles about Don Imus..." lol

Click around some of the other links on that webpage and you may find some other solutions as well...

type it in exactly. You can cut n paste also
don't know much more about it than what the page says, just command line parameters have to be exact.

note the description of the file in THREE directories, gotta get them all

Every time I've installed SP2 on my machine it freezes when booting or about a minute after I start working. I end up having to boot in safe mode and uninstall SP2.

Any ideas?

When my hard drive died I had to reload XP and it was so old, it was when it first came out, it took 3 days to reload, and get all the updates into it. SP2 was extremly difficult, Microsoft wouldn't send me a new CD, nor Gateway. Next time I will have to buy a new computer, never again.

Try to google microsoft XP SP2, there are some patches available. It's not easy, I can't even remeber how the hell I did it. All I know it was alot of hard work, and something I'm short of "patiance" Good Luck.

HAHA, yea this is a gateway, about 5 or prolly 6yrs old. I had to redo the system once b4 and had a heck of a time so a computer friend helped me image it with ghost. we had it stable. just didnt have sp2 on it. never buying one of these again. more trouble than its worth

do you have a downloaded copy of the sevice pack on your hard drive, OR are you trying to download/install from a site?

I have always had a copy on cd that I use. If going through MS update, you can run into probems. Is it is happeneing with dl copy, try downloading another copy, it could be corrupt/scratch on cd

reformat and try it with a clean disk, even if you did before, just in case. THEN if it doesn't work, I'd just go with a clean install instead of an image. At least ya can get it this evening, lol.
I gave up on everything but a clean install years ago. Saves time in the long run of countless machines. You can just install all your software the hard way

I'm about to do a clean Kubuntu 7.04 beta on my 'old' desktop.

has Winxp also in multiboot setup.
If you REALLY need to install from ghost image, maybe there is a workaround, someone will chime in with it

No you haven't, mine is like the same vintage, Hard drive, and Memory expansion added too. only about 6 months ago. I just kept trying and trying until I finally got it. I think before you can put SP-2 in, there were a number of updates that had to go in first, One thing sticks in my mind is Sp-1 first, all the updates, and than SP-2. To think, the doctors don't know how I'm alive let alone doing so good, it must all fall into one weird place,,,,,ughhhh!!!!!!!!! PATIANCE !!!!!!!!!! Wow I hate that word.....
