I change my Duragesic 100 mcg/hr patch every 48 hours. The other day, I felt deathly ill (sweaty, cold, runny nose, watery eyes, & general malaise) and discovered that I missed changing my patch. This was a huge eye-opener. I'm actually surprised how dependant my body is. What if I need to go off the fentanyl? I had no problems stopping Fentora (... still waiting on appeal... ) and I really felt terrible the other day. How has anyone stopped this medication?

My wife switched from a 100 µg/hr fentanyl patch to a different narcotic, with only some discomfort for I think it was less than a week. While using the patch, there were several occasions when we forgot to change it for a day (as recommended, it was to be replaced every 3 days), but again the reaction was not nearly as bad as yours apparently was.
